Hiring veterans is good business!

The number of employers actively looking to hire veterans has increased by over 20% in the last five years, according to new figures released by the Forces Employment Charity to coincide with Armed Forces Day.

The findings show an increase from 2,981 employers actively looking to employ veterans employed veterans in 2018 to 3,603 in 2023. Last year alone, the charity supported 23,000 members of the military community, securing 13,246 work placements compared to 11,994 the previous year—a more than 10% year-on-year increase. This success reflects the growing recognition of the value veterans bring to the workforce.

New research has shown that employers who have hired veterans report significant contributions to their workforce. Almost a quarter (24%) praise veterans for bringing strong leadership skills, and 22% are impressed with their team-building abilities. Additionally, 22% of employers highlight the unique skills veterans possess, and 20% affirm that hiring a veteran is good for business.
