Are holiday costs out of control?

A major new survey from hotukdeals as part of their British holiday habits has found some significant trends indicating the pressure on purse strings when getting the holiday we want. 93 percent of those polled think that the cost of holidays is out of control at the moment, so much so that four in ten (40 percent) parents admit that they have, and would, risk a fine by taking their children away during term time.

On average, Britons go abroad three times a year, budgeting £751 for a two-week holiday, which for a half (50 percent) is more than they were putting aside five years ago. Four in ten (43 percent) say they are going away less now than five years ago due to the higher prices (66 percent), taking longer to save up the money to go away (39 percent), higher costs of going away during the school holidays (23 percent) and simply not having the time (15 percent).

It’s no surprise that 86 percent say they are being savvier with their holiday budgets now compared to five years ago.
